Throwing Shade

In the piece I wrote Revisiting the Reimagined - I mentioned having thoughts about swapping out the shades on the sideboard lamps for something with a pattern or pleats. No, I haven’t changed those yet but, I did add the fun teal patterned gems from Ballard Designs to the wall sconces on the porch.

I haven’t changed these shades because of the light we need in the Chalet. With no pot lights in this 1924 cottage we really do rely on lamps. I know eventually I’ll find the right thing.

To spruce up the cloisonné lamp on the other side of the diningroom I added this lovely white pleated shade and the new navy Pagoda finial is a great final touch.

Let’s get to the fun bit - here are pretty pictures that make me drool!

The image above is of my friend Collen O’Neill’s livingroom - the shades are new additions as are the blue glass ball finials. They complete the look so marvelously. I immediately asked Colleen for the finial source which she graciously shared with me and I found the Pagoda from this same shop Legacy Hardware.

Stacy Harvie

Stacy Harvie has remarkable taste. I’m smitten by these outstanding shades - the beautiful navy and white on the sconce and the pop of pinky red below.

Every one of these gorgeous spaces above with their equally gorgeous lamps and shades are by the hand of my dear sweet friend Cameron Jones. The shades on her fireplace wall inspired the ones on my porch! Cameron embraces pattern in all that she does - in her home and that of her clients! I dream of a red lamp for my upstairs hall with a red polka dot shade just like the one in her kiddo’s room.

When I saw this piece by Anna Nord - it immediately struck me - reminding me of Liam and I. Anna is a delight and worked with me to get this piece to me in New Jersey from Sweden having never shipped internationally before. When I opened the package she had sweetly included the floral that’s on the upstairs gallery wall.
