Dynamic Dwelling

If you caught my Instagram stories over the weekend than you saw images of my Mother-In-Laws home. Marge King-Porter is a extremely talented woman with an eye for design. Over the years she has designed window displays for retailers, rooms for Holiday Home Tours, designed and executed garden displays in her downtown of Warwick NY, run her own antiques business and most recently was a partner in a home staging and estate sale company.

In her spare time Marge has logged countless hours of volunteerism. Lending her talents to events for St. Anthony’s Hospital, Winslow’s Therapeutic Riding Center and the town of Warwick including Warwick in Bloom and Sunday October 2, 2022 will mark the return of Warwick Applefest which Marge has participated in for many years.

She has also been honored with the Outstanding Community Service Award by the Rotary. So friends you can see my Mother-in-law is quite a lady!

Over the last year Marge has embraced Black and White and it looks terrific! She took the cabinet below that was in tough shape painted it black and added wallpaper to the interior for a one-of-a-kind look!

Marge started the diningroom transformation by painted out the glass doors - which she treats as stationary windows. She followed by taking her paint brush to the pie safe and buffet cabinet.

The paint color is PM9-Black by Benjamin Moore. I love the tonality - it has a lot of blue in it to me and I just adore how the vintage pieces look in black.

I love how Marge incorporates her love of vintage touches into her spaces and everything feels unique. Just like her!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this tour - I do love being able to share special people from my life with all of you. Til next week be well and I’ll see you over on Instagram.

Summer Reads '22

At the end of summer 2021 I shared what I’d read and I’ve had more than a few requests for a full list from friends and followers.

So many of you have reached out and shared that summer is the time of year you are able to devote to reading. Here are the books I read/listened to between June 21 and September 4.

You can always find what I’m currently reading/listening to in the sidebar.

Please leave a comment or email me with any great titles you’ve read recently - I’d love to know!

*I really enjoyed Good Company!

*I borrowed my sons copy of this and loved it - two siblings setting off on an eventure that places them in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This story shows off their ingenuity and acceptance of each other. I adored!

*Mary Jane is 14 in 1975 and trying to figure out her world: the one at home with her parents and the one at the Cone’s where she’s a summer nanny! I loved it!

*I picked this up while thrifting at the Cape May Antiques Center and solely because the town of Montclair NJ is close to home and a favorite spot. The book had nothing at all to do with the town and until the very end with was more than a bit sad and made me cry - it was a page turned and I recommend!

*This story focusing on Mary Bennet had been on my To Read list since it was published in 2020. I thoroughly enjoyed.

*Mrs. Harris is always a Yes whether in Paris or New York!

You’ll see I wrote a few lines about the books that really grabbed me but, I would not share a title here that I wouldn’t recommend.

Til next time be well friends!
